So I got me some drift wood.
Some plants, too. Preview above.
It took some time until the sand settled in.
Not pictured: Some Amano shrimp.

So now I placed some wooden board under the AQs feet, covered with felt so it won’t scratch the floor (100+ yo parquet). Cleaned and refilled the filter, attached the hoses and strapped a blue filter map around the water exit so the big stuff wont clog the filter.
With a little help, filled the thing with 5 inches of water so as to get the filter running. Turns out that the neon bulbs are rather new, so I won’t have an excuse to buy these LED things. Too bad.
For those interested, here’s how it looks now:
Went to the dentist, got a “gum shaper” installed (shaping my gum for the implant). Followed this up with a visit to Aquarien-Meyer. Seems like I am gonna be spending a whole metric shitload on these LED lights:

I also took a peek through their enormous collection of fish. Will not likely be making up my mind anytime soon
Shortly after I had acquired my first fish tank, the (now) wife and I were expecting and needed to move. I did over the next two years manage to hold as many as four fish tanks, but after the biggest one just flat out burst decided to give it a rest until just recently.
Back when I was living “at the House“, there was a 500l-tank with two families Princess of Burundi, which was primary reason to get into aquaristics. Sadly, when the house was renovated, I wasn’t able to secure the 200x50x50cm tank since I had insufficient room. What a sight this thing would be in my new appartment’s hallway!
I had long wished to get another fish tank, but the initial cost seemed a little steep. So it was happy to hear that my uncle-in-law (?) had chosen to give up on his 240l fish tank and give it to me.
Here it is:
It still needs to be cleaned and inventoried. There’s an Eheim filter, theres a backdrop landscape, theres gravel, theres Fe stabilizer. There’s also the question where this thing will find its permanent place, since the statics of a 100yo apartment building need to be considered before putting ~500kg (water, stones, sand and the tank itself) somewhere.
There’s also (of course!) the question of what to put into the tank.
It seems a little small (and not wide enough) to make it any kind of African sea (Malawi, Tanganjika) tank. I’ve had “Blue Gouramis” before and also some “Betta splendens” which are all pretty pretty.
I guess what I will do is what’s the most fun: Go window shopping. Take a sample of my tap water, see what fish would fit. Maybe I can get the trusted Dr Wolter to chime in, as well.
After wiping most my webspace, redoing my osCommerce database (so my BitCoinCommdoties wouldn’t get mixed up) and then something or other technical, I am fully able to provide you with the n-to-the-umpteenth-power weblog regarding someones hobbies, political “insights”, grueling accounts of family holidays.
This reminds me to change the tagline a bit.
So, what this is gonna be? I don’t know yet. But as Sascha Lobo points out (aktun German!), there needs to be more content not generated by facebook, twitter, 4square and g+, so here I am, just doin’ my part.
Enjoy.
